Cockapoo's are a cross between a Cocker spaniel and a miniature poodle. These adorable small dogs have big fun-loving personalities and are completely people-oriented, are intelligent enough to train, don't shed or minimally , forgives quickly, and is incredibly affectionate.
Cockapoo's can have a variety of coats, from a flat coat to tight curly and anywhere in between. The flat coat is low maintenance, low shedding and will not need clipping. The tight curly coat is high maintenance, but will be non-shedding. Coco has a loose wavy coat which is clipped every 6-8 weeks. The type of coat a puppy is likely to develop will start to show at around 4-6 weeks. They also come in a variety of colours, red, blonde, chocolate, black and variants off. They can have many different markings, Tuxedo, Parti, Sable Phantom, Roan, Merle, Ticking and Tri-colour.
The terms used to describe the generational cross are F1, F2, F3 etc. A F1 is a first cross between a Cocker spaniel and a poodle. An F2 is a cross between two F1 Cockapoo's. An F3 is a cross between two F2 Cockapoo's. If a Cockapoo is mated back to a Cocker spaniel or Poodle than they are given a 'b' suffix i.e. a F1 Cockapoo mated to a Poodle would result in F1b puppies.
